South Carolina Law calls for no primary to be held if only one candidate filed, so those races aren't listed here. At present, the Democrats do not have a candidate for either State Treasurer or Adjutant General.
Unless something unexpected happens the only question for the Democratic gubernatorial race is whether Sheheen will have to face a runoff to win the nomination. He has a big lead over Rex in the fundraising and endorsement races, and Ford was never anything more than a one-hit wonder hoping that people might be desperate enough to bring back video poker as a means to close the budget gap.
The Republican gubernatorial race is at this stage too close to call. Haley is a longshot with no chance of coming in first, but if she makes the runoff she could win that.
Incidentally, we'll be having a rare example of a fusion candidate where the two parties are both third parties. Morgan Bruce Reeves will be the gubernatorial candidate of the Working Families and United Citizens Parties.
