This seems reasonable to me, and removes my objections to the original amendment. I will be supporting this.

Well, I was asked to introduce this for someone, but I've always been against the death penalty. Wink

Ah. I'm against it in all but exceptional circumstances, and imho it should be a regional issue anyway.

This keeps it a regional matter.

Respectfully, have you actually read the bill? It only abolishes the Death penalty as a Federal punishment, and doesn't touch the regions.

Oh I know, but I have a hard time seeing all four of the non-southeast regions voting for it.

But it was abolished as a federal punishment thirty-four Senates ago.

Was it really? Oh wow, well thanks! Smiley

Anyway, seeing as I wrote this thing, you guys can table this if you want. Smiley

However, I still think the region's should at least consider changing their capital punishment laws.

As I have in the past, I oppose all attempts to restrict use of the death penalty.

As this bill does nothing- motion to table.

I had considered amending, but that wouldn't pass anyways.
