Green-Better than Obama
Gray-Worse than Obama

Hard to say.

I'll say strictly better in Appalachia and Tri-State area.

This map looks about right to me, though I think I would switch RI, SD and Arizona.

Blue- Obama does better
Red- Clinton does better

This is interesting and I say Obama does better in most places because of the large majority he won by. Hillary Clinton comes off as cold and mean so I think the election would've come down to Ohio between her and McCain.

The fact that you have Obama doing better in Oklahoma is hilarious. Look back to the primary: she carried every single county except Oklahoma (City) County and he just narrowly won that, and McCain carried every single county in the general, and look at how strongly those counties in Little Dixie (close to Arkansas) swung away from him.

She comes off as cold and mean? That must explain why she has the highest approval ratings of any member of the current administration, including Mr. Hope and Change.

Hillary was a pretty weak candidate, really. Being unlikeable and all. I'd say she probably does slightly better in some of the redneck states, but worse in the mid-West.

I'd change NM and AZ from Green to Grey.  Otherwise, I think you're right.

Well as far to the right as I am I must say that I like Hillary Clinton best in the Obama administration. That doesn't say much other than to me the administration is horrible. Secondly, ok so make Oklahoma red if you want to.

I'd also change MT, UT, ID, KS, and AK to blue (though only the first might've made a difference in outcome if the recession hit a month earlier), and probably Ohio to green.

I couldn't find anyone's comments on a firing squad. I thought they abolished that in Utah about 10 years ago.

Blue-black: both would have lost decisively. Does anyone think that any Democrat has a reasonable chance of winning Utah or Oklahoma in any election since 1964?

Medium-blue:  both would have lost by similar, but not huge margins.

Red-black: sure thing for either. Does anyone think that either had a chance of losing California, Illinois, or New York?

Light green: Hillary would have done better and either won (Missouri)

Medium-green: Hillary would have done better, but with no certainty of winning.

Medium-red: both would have won by similar margins, but they would have still been "swing states".

Green: Hillary had a better chance.

Orange: Obama won decisively; Hillary would have probably have won narrowly.

Beige: Obama lost by a small margin; Hillary would have lost by a large one.

Yellow: Obama won; Hillary would have lost. NE-02 is in this category but does not show.

White: Obama won; Hillary would have had about a 50-50 chance of winning.

Much depends upon strategy. I don't think that Hillary Clinton would have campaigned much in Indiana; Obama was the only Democrat to ever have a chance of winning Indiana in a close election since Truman in 1948. Logistics favored Obama in Indiana in 2008 and punished Republicans in 2008, an inversion of the norm. Would she have seen Virginia as ripe for the picking, or would she have poured effort into states that her husband won in the South in 1992 and 1996 but weren't close afterward?

All in all I think that they would have traded Indiana and Missouri, both won Florida and Ohio, found Georgia tempting but abandoned it in August or September, and likely traded North Carolina for only one state in deep green. I'm not sure about Virginia.

IIRR, Hilliary was polling better then Obama in NC and SC. Hilliary would have also have won over more of the white Democrats in the Mnts of NC, that Obama didn't win.

Yeah, but Obama got a lot of black and young voters energized in NC that Hillary would not have (unless she had Obama as VP, and even then the impact would have been less).

Clinton does better in- PA, NJ, RI, MA, NY, CT, ME, MI, AR, ME
Obama does better in- all other states

Never under estimate the Clintons and what they're capable of pulling in politics.

I agree with that too. Wyoming who knows? I don't think any math has been done between Obama and Clinton matched up against McCain there. I'm not sure if Clinton would've won Florida or Ohio either.

No, Hillary would have won FL and OH, and she would ahve done so by a larger margin than Obama. She was much more popular among blue-coillar workers and seniors than he was.

Obama couldn't top either of Bill Clinton's performances in Wyoming even when intentionally ignoring Perot.  Obama may have been more palatable to Democratic caucus voters in Wyoming, but I imagine the state as a whole would have been more willing to cross over for Hillary than Obama.  Of course the difference is probably negligible, but there's my reasoning.
