So, at my local library's book sale last weekend, I bought a bound copy of speeches from Al Smith's 1928 campaign for $30.  The reason it was so expensive is that it was in fact signed by Al Smith!  I think it's a rather neat thing; does anybody else have stuff like that?

You lucky bastard. Sad

Seriously, I congratulate your acquisition of a political artifact. Especially from such a massive FF. I wish I had one. Wink

Very cool.

I have a world atlas from 1938.  It's very interesting to see a book that has Manchukuo as a country and doesn't have Austria. Sad

Are you going to burn it as a sacrifice on your altar to FDR?

Ben, that is pretty neat that you bought it. I have some old books and atlases myself, but I don't think any of them are that old.

That's very cool.  The only pieces of memorabilia I have is a FDR pin from 1932 and a JFK pin from 1960.

I have a lot of campaign buttons, including one from 1980 for Ted Kennedy and a button my grandmother gave me during JFK's campaign.

I have a globe from 1906 or 1907.

It doesn't say anywhere, but the maps used date it. Oklahoma is still two territories, but the results of the War of 1905 are shown.

How do you know it's really his signature?

I can't imagine there's a massive black market for Al Smith signatures.

No real proof; the inscription is hand written, saying "All the best, Alfred E. Smith", and I doubt there are people forging Al Smith's signature - plus, the ink is fading, indicating that it really is 80 years old.
