There is a petition filed on this matter, and thus the poll. If the mods don't like my putting this poll up, they should feel free to delete it, or move it to another board (off topic?), if they think it more appropriate to repose there. I won't be offended.

Oh, and I don't expect the mods to be influenced in their decision based on the results of this poll either. That is not how it should work in my opinion. I am just curious what forum sentiment is.

My heart says yes because he's an intelligent kid, but my brain says no.  The kid just can't, no way, no how, continue to post without dolling out severe personal attacks.

For the good of this website, which needs to be the paramount criterion for the powers that be, the banning needs to stay in force.

Yes.  I don't believe banning people because they make unfavorable arguments is just.

Non-contributors like Rochambeau are bannable, but bad contributors like Einzige are not.

Huh?  That's not why Einzige was banned.

I know.  But that's like saying Al Capone was known for his tax evasion.  Like all banning cases here, Einzige was targeted for banning because of his reputation while the evidence and charges were collected later.

Um, no.  The *only* thing he did that the moderators had a remote problem with was chronic personal attacks and unwillingness to stop calling people degenerate wastes of flesh despite repeated warnings.

I'd say let him stew a bit and then give him a second chance.

From what I understand Xahar was a much worse poster the first time around than he is now.

I'd probably give him a second chance eventually.  Then again, I wasn't a mod back when he was a problem for them, so I'm not sure exactly how much trouble he caused, so if he was ever allowed back, I could very well regret it.

Yes, and whoever banned him should resign.

FYI: Only one person can ban him.

I've never seen a banning that occurred since I became mod that wasn't unanimous.

Of course not.  I still don't understand why people think he contributed so much to the forum.  Most people can contribute and NOT be a giant douchebag.  It's not hard to NOT be a giant douchebag.  Ziggy wanted to get banned.  I don't know why, maybe so he can say SEE, LOOK AT THE AUTHORITARIANS! or just to see how far he could push the mods/Leip or whatever, it doesn't matter.  The point is he wanted to be banned, just like Hammy before (and after and after and after), it was obvious.

Roll Eyes

Ah, yes.  Kicking someone out that doesn't follow the explicitly-listed rules for forum behavior is "whining."

It's funny (ironic maybe?) because a yes vote here is whining.
