After a dismal second term of Obama's presidency, Senator Blumenthal, despite his advanced age, clinches the nomination, and selects Roy Barnes of Georgia as his runningmate.

On the Republican side, Governor Charlie Baker manages to seize the nomination, selecting John Boozman of Arkansas to balance the ticket out.

Unemployment is 9.1% on election day.

Massive GOP landslide.

Now, could you please respond to my 1936 scenario?
