I suppose it depends on what's agreed with the Liberals and whether the deal gets through the LibDem's slightly approval process (which it surely will, I guess).

Rumours that Kenneth Clarke would be Chancellor have been put to bed apparently.

Foreigh & Deputy PM: Nick Clegg
Chief Sec to the Treasury: Vince Cable
Energy & Climate Change: Chris Huhne
Education, sorry Children, Schools & Families: David Laws

Chancellor: Osborne
Home: Grayling?
Justice: Grieve
Defence: Hague
Health: Lansley
Business, et al: Clarke - but expect to see some of the powers re-delegated

Could be a lot of knock-on from LDs taking expected Tory posts.

I don't think the LibDems will get the Foreign post, mostly because their pro-EU attitude. My guess would be that Clegg becomes Home Secretary.

Ugh. Is Foreign Secretary in charge of Europe as well?

Yes and no. There's usually a Minister for Europe (who attends Cabinet meetings despite not being a member of the Cabinet) as well.

Well, I hope LibDems will manage to make this government a bit less ultra-reactionary that it would have been.

Is it just me or did the LibDems kind of get shafted as far as the cabinet goes? They didn't get any of the important positions, really.

Under the circumstances, I'd count having Vince Cable as Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills is fairly important.  Given their relative sizes in Parliament, the LibDems ought to have roughly one out of every six ministries.

Here's hoping having some Liberals in the cabinet will be a bit of a barricade to Cameron f**king the country up too badly.

The more liberals in the Cabinet the greater percentage of the whole Lib/Dem parliamentary delegation has a personal, vested interest in keeping the coalition alive. Maybe not too important now, but down the road who can tell?

Cameron confirmed today that Clegg will do PMQ's when he's away. That'll be a sight to see.

Well, the government has its first scandal: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8712383.stm

Torygraph must be delighted. Manage to catch a very senior politician making dodgy expenses claims and get to out him at the same time.

I've hated Laws for years so I'll keep quiet now.

How does this get exposed only now?  I mean, surely the tories were doing their research on the Lib Dems during/prior to the campaign, particularly high profile ones...right?  Or is that not done over there?

...and now the Torygraph is going after Laws' replacement (he pulled a Blears). But this time the political angle is clear enough; their campaign to stop CGT from rising. I presume that efforts will be made to secure Alexander's position.
