putting on my within-the-context-of-the-current-system sunglasses.  the Senate is decidedly more reactionary by nature than the HoR and they haven't been considering lots of legislation passed by the House in recent times, inspiring my poll.

It would also eliminate the filibuster, very good!

It sounds appealing at first glance, but there'd be some logistical issues. First of all, how would it be enforced? Secondly, how would you deal with bills that could be passed with amendments but not in the form they were passed from the other chamber? Would you force a floor vote on the exact language from the other chamber? Or would you allow it to be amended to a certain extent? And if so then to what extent?

Extremely short-sighted and eliminates the autonomy of the houses.

A more fundamental question is whether we should have two houses of Congress. But of course we will - forever.

I agree, and this idea for an amendment seems tantamount to creating a unicameral legislature in function if not in practice.

The U.S. government won't last forever.
