Was Newt Sober When He Robo Called Me?

I had a voice message waiting for me when I got home last night. I punched the requisite button on the phone, and lo and behold it was Newt Gingrich. He was telling me to vote for Meg Whitman. Fine. I am voting for her anyway. However, there was one little matter that really was of interest to me. He sounded smashed, really smashed, speaking slowly and slurring his words. What is that all about?

Maybe your telephone didn't work properly (or at least its sound system)? I seriously doubt Gingrich actually called you while being drunk.

No I just got home, and was totally sober for a short window of time. And I get other voice messages that are not slowed and slurred. Maybe the robo tape was malfunctioning. I should have recorded it somehow, so you all could listen to it. My bad on that!

Is Newt Gingrich really the best robo call voice they could come up with?  Everyone under the sun backs her candidacy.

Maybe Team Meg is in trouble after all.

Or the other way around.  Whitman saw the PPP poll, and decided that Gingrich must actually be super popular among California Republicans, so she tracked him down and asked him to record this message.  But he was smashed at a bar when she found him, so the recording ends up sounding terrible.

It was actuallly a fake created by the Romney for President campaign... and it has now been listened to by every California Republican under the sun.
But yes, it was inspired by that crackpot poll.

I got a call from Newt last week. Actually I got a call from a call center who wanted me to listen to Newt's recorded message, then donate some money. I agree that Newt's voice wasn't as crisp as I remembered from 15 years ago during his Speakership. I wrote that off to age rather than to chemical imbalance.

Newt does not sound that way currently when he is on television, nor did he sound that way yesterday on the Hugh Hewitt talk radio show. He sounded as crisp as on a sunny day in West Chicago in mid January.

I've had similar calls from him regarding guns. I think he feels uncomfortable speaking to a machine. Most of us normals do.
