32%. I take it you did not vote for her and are very embarrassed by 1 out of 3 California Republicans?

You talking about Carly "Israel" Fiorina?

Fiornia and the other American worker hating CEO did a lot better than 32%.

My thoughts on Arkansas:

Arkansas is my second home (Maryland is where I live, of course). I know how different their state Democratic Party is from the national entity. But I wanted Bill Halter to win SO bad. But I'm proud of him. He made it close. His message was clear. And I hope he runs for Governor in 2014 (or as an Independent in this race, can he do that?)

As for Blanche: Gotta give her credit, she pulled it off. And I'd rather her win in November than Boozman (although I'm fully prepared to see her lose; I know how it is). Her Wall Street reform bill should be pursued more aggressively now; she may have defeated Halter, but as I said before, progressives made their voices count, and I really hope she realizes that and tries to get their support.

What can I say? My Arkansas roots are strong. I can't help it.

The progressives were part of what defeated Bill Halter.  Just so you know that the reactionaries aren't the only ones who screw up.

Of course!  I will concede that a third of the GOP are nutters (more in some places), if you concede that close to an equal percentage of the Dems are of the same ilk. How about that? Smiley

Once someone as crazy wins a third of the vote in a Dem primary. How well did Kucinich do?

This is why I hate active threads like this.  I quoted the wrong post, I think.  I assume it was DeVore who got 32%.

Oh, I can definitely see how that was possible in Arkansas. I just kept the hope up to the end (the polls from the last few days certainly didn't hurt in this case, either).

No, it is about an obscure primary for the Secretary of State, where the incumbent Dem is a heavy favorite. Taitz is getting a third of the vote, who is a birther, and a paranoid nut on a host of issues, who was abandoned by the GOP leadership, and Damon Dunn is a quite smart and articulate black man, former athlete, successful businessman, and involved in a host of good community causes, who was raised in a filthy trailer in Texas by a single mom, as one of a host of kids, who got a break due to his athletic prowess, but also had a brain, and got into Stanford, which loves talented athletes, but unlike USC, will not admit anyone who cannot benefit from its academic program. And Dunn did benefit. The way he expresses himself makes it obvious.

I just have to say this. I know it is highly, highly unlikely, but I wonder if he is descended from my great great grandfather's two or three slaves in Norfolk. Those slaves worked in his machinery business down there. He has my surname. Smiley

Precincts Reporting: 616 of 1175 (52.43%)
Candidate   Graph   Votes   %
Angle, Sharron       27,506    36.98%
Lowden, Sue          23,545    31.66%
Tarkanian, Danny     15,989    21.50%

Edited to add: I can't imagine the AP won't call the race after they update with these results.

Well, hopefully 16 and 17 go down. There is 13.4% reporting statewide, but only 5.5% from Los Angeles, and 0% from Alameda and Santa Clara, so the areas that have yet to report are somewhat more liberal.

Of course low turnout, with no high-tier primaries on the Democratic side, could help this garbage get passed. The crazy thing about Prop. 16 is that it's another ing Constitutional amendment.

Edit: Oh crap, Orange county is improving 16 and 17's margins.

You don't like the jungle primary Pit?

Theoretically, it could help third party candidates by lowering the threshold required for plurality.  A charismatic, viable third party candidate could make it to the runoff.  However, major party candidates don't always split the vote near-evenly.

!6 will probably fail. 17 is the one up in the air. It was a very confusing proposition, with charges and counter charges, none very well articulated.

IA-3 GOP primary is kinda interesting in that Zaun won by getting 52% in Polk County (Des Moines), and naturally where his state Senate seat is and either losing or performing weakly everywhere else.
