Is there a table of the colors used in the maps here, so I don't have to keep going around print-screening and sh-t?

You mean this??

https://uselectionatlas.org/RESULTS/IMAGES/key.gif

All you have to do is click "map key" on any of the election pages for that.

Well I feel dumb now.

The situation with the American Independent Party is interesting.  From what I know, the party was hijacked by supporters of Alan Keyes, and the national affiliation was changed from the Constitution Party to Keyes's America's Independent Party.  So, there's a split between supporters of Reagan's token black, and Constitution Party supporters.

Here is a map of the AIP primary.  Red is Chelene Nightingale, blue is Markham Robinson.  I will also be making maps for the Green Party, Peace and Freedom Party, and Republican Party.

I didn't see a single ad for Prop 14.  I can't help but think most people who voted for it just thought it sounded cool.

Prop 16:

That one shot of Blanche Lincoln about to piss herself while she watches the returns is, like, the best picture ever. She looks so happy!

I do find it rather funny that she's running on her vote not being able to be bought.

How'd you vote on the cardroom measure? To me it seemed like an politically easy source of revenue, so why not...

Yeah, my thoughts too. Did it pass?

VDP's counties look like an arrow pointing towards the middle of Illinois.

Under Prop 14, the California Attorney General race would be 1,148 votes away from being an R-R race.

Things will not end well.

You cannot assume jungle primary turnout would be the same as closed primary turnout.  Or who voters would have voted for in a jungle primary.

That being said, I agree.  I don't like the jungle primary system.  Under the current system, at least I know who the slimeballs I'd never vote for in a million years are.  Under the new system, I might have to vote for one of them or not vote at all in the general election.

Jungle primary has changed California from a two-party system to a one-party state.

If this tea party stuff catches on, this means extra fail for the Republicans in Cali as I doubt crazies will listen to peoples pleas to drop out and let a center-right GOPer make it to the general.

Well, the top-two system is going to result in the parties putting huge amounts of pressure on extraneous candidates to stay out of races so they don't create a R-R or D-D situation. Look at the WA-03 race -- a 50/50 open seat and the only viable candidates are Heck on the Dem side and Herrera/Castillo on the Rep side.

http://vote.sos.ca.gov/maps/prop14.htm

Never thought I'd see the day San Francisco and Orange are the only two counties on the same side of a ballot measure.

Yes, and I also find it surprising how popular this proposal was. (Yes, only 54.2% but spread enough to carry all but two counties).

Would that be unethical somehow? Is it already practiced?

I'd be interested to see the % of people who Disapprove/Strongly Disapprove of Reid who end up voting for him.

oh yeah, sorry - thanks for the repost.

Maybe some slight connection to % African American in a few places, but then not at all in others. Weird.
