Nah, this state was never going to vote for Harry's boy.  He would have lost even if he'd run in 2006.

He doesn't even beat Gibbons by that much.

I don't know.  Against Gibbons?  Dina Titus worked her way back from from a big deficit to come within 4.  I think Reid would've had a slightly better starting point with name recognition.  And if you say Titus had name recognition, I doubt very many people in any state know of the State Senate Minority Leader.

But as we're seeing now, name recognition is no use any more if that name is 'Reid'.

But in 2006.

Does anyone knows if he has done a good/bad job as Clark County Executive or do they hate him just because of his last name?

In 2006, Harry Reid's approval rating was about even with his disapprovals.  Now of course I wasn't living here then, so I'm not going to claim to be an expert, but Nevada has always had a rather ambivalent view of its senior senator.

My point is that Titus was a stronger candidate than Rory, who would struggle to win here even in a favorable climate.

The Clark County Commission is a seven-member body, of which Rory is one member.  His district covers the airport, a small portion of the Strip, and some newer residential developments in the southeast of the city, along with the mountains on the eastern outskirts.  It's not a particularly powerful or attention-grabbing position, to say the least.
