LOL @ "progressives" who think Obama and the Democratic party share their goals in even the slightest.

Obviously they don't (and that's why it annoys me when people call me a partisan because I hate the Democratic Party), but they're still miles ahead of the crypto-Nazis running the Republican party, and the goal is to use primary challenges, like Halter's against Lincoln, to move the Democrat Party back to the progressive left.

It's pretty clear that the White House is not a force for good.

I read this article a while earlier, and it's a good read.

In this case, the more progressive candidate, who backed more of the White House's agenda, was far more electable than the White House's candidate.

If you "hate" the Democratic party, you sure don't show it...

Dude, we'd all like to live in a fantasy world where we weren't forced to support a terrible, corrupt, ineffective, corporation-loving, out-of-touch joke of a party just to prevent the fascists from coming back to power, but that's unfortunately not how it works, so we bite the bullet, and work hard to make the least-terrible of the two parties less terrible while holding the line against the nazis.

The Democratic Party did something the Republicans have failed to do... protect their own and be greatful for somebody who agrees with them at least 50.1% of the time.

Now, from a party standpoint, Halter probably would've been a better choice in terms of keeping the seat a Demcratic held seat, but at least they didn't push her out of the party like the Republicans did to Specter.

The problem progressives have with Lincoln isn't only that she has time and again voted against party line. It's also that she, along with the likes of Bayh, Lieberman and Ben Nelson, always find a way to bash the "libruls" and their "extreme agenda".

On the Republican side, apart from Voinovich's rant against Jim DeMint and Tom Coburn, I have never heard Olympia Snowe or Susan Collins to badmouth the conservatives and their extreme agenda.

It's no coincidence that her Arkansas colleague, Mark Pryor, has a rather normal relationship with the netroots and the Dem activists, despite a similar record with Lincoln. That's because unlike the names mentioned above he doesn't grandstand and offend the party's liberal base.

Why did you edit out your comment about Glenn Greenwald and neocons?

If I were a Democrat, I would fear this new crusading against DINOs. That same crusading killed the northeast GOP for almost four years.

That crusading will kill the GOP now (Tea Party candidates). "Moderates" are being purged from both parties.

If I were an American patriot, I would be thankful that We the People are finally having some success in trying to purge both parties of the establishment scum that has been killing the country for far longer than four years.

My sentences didn't make that much sense upon reflection, and I generally try to avoid rants about neocons, but they stand that everyone who calls themselves a progressive and doesn't worship the establishment should probably be reading Greenwald's blog.

Note that the campaign against "DINOs" is based on capitulation to special interests,  and has nothing to do with Democrats being pro-gun, pro-life, or fiscally conservative.

Also in most cases the primary candidates we're running against the incumbents are more electable than the incumbent Democrat (both Halter and Sestak), the opposite of what the teabaggers and CfG are doing.

Yeah. The incumbents the Dems have been challenging have either been damaged goods or completely useless. What's the point of getting rid of Bennett in UT or McCain in AZ?

There is no crusade against DINO's. Nobody planed to primary Evan Bayh and nobody rebelled against the choice of Brad Ellsworth as the Dem nominee, despite their conservative positions.
Lincoln and Specter were targeted for very specific reasons.

Lincoln almost lost and perhaps she will learn her lesson this time.

Learn her lesson for what? The last few months she has left before having her ass handed to her?

Yeah, I'm sure she'll be far more liberal in the future.

She has a fine future sitting on the boards of Cargill, ADM, Wal*Mart, and Tyson.

Yes, all of which are basically just arms of the U.S. government.
