Larry Kissell (D): 41%
Harold Johnson (R): 35%
Undecided: 23%

Larry Kissell (D): 40%
Harold Johnson (R): 30%
Wendell Fant (I): 14%
Undecided: 16%

PPP surveyed 400 NC-8 voters from June 10th to 13th. The margin of error is +/-4.9%. Other factors, such as refusal to be interviewed and weighting, may introduce additional error that is more difficult to quantify.

They didn't poll the runoff. Angry

If Johnson wins, this will be competative. If D'Anutcase wins, Kissell will win a landslide and will get my support, though that doesn't mean that much since I live in the 2nd.

Actually, they did, it's 49-39 Johnson.

Could D'Annunzio run as an Indie, or are there rules/filing deadlines against that in NC?

The filing deadline is just a few days after the runoff, but furthermore, the requirements for independent candidates are so ridiculous (signatures of 4% of registered voters in the district - about 17,000 signatures for NC-08) that it would be impossible for him to achieve it. If the unions get their candidate on the ballot against Kissell, it would be the first independent candidate on the ballot for Congress ever in North Carolina history.

Kissell should win easily. This isn't even the type of Blue Dog Democrat district that's likely to see a major backlash against Obama, Obama won it solidly and it was drawn specifically to not be this way by including a large chunk of Charlotte. What I don't understand is how even under those circumstances the Democrats couldn't get any serious to ever run against the extremely inept Robin Hayes.

They claim they have the signatures. We shall see if they survive the inevitable challenges from the NC Democratic party.
