Byrd: Mister Westman, your demands for axing out subsidies for energy production is simply barbaric......BARBARIC! LET THAT WORD RING OUT! FROM VALLEH TO VALLEH! FROM HILLTOP TO HILLTOP!
Westman: I think you just wanted an excuse to yell "barbaric"!

This quote is so great, I should put it in my signature

It seemed as if from the troubles of Westman D'Israeli suddenly found a new hope.
NOOOOOO!

Great updates though. I'm rooting for Clark or Crane to win, most preferably Crane. It seems, though, that most of the thirs parties detract from the Republicans. Westman stole votes from D'Isreali, Crane steals votes from D'Isreali, and Javits steals votes from D'Israeli. However, it seems that Javits could also steal votes from dis-satisfied Democrats.

1) Is Bearuegard D'Israeli a real person? I don't think I've found any mention of him on Google.

2) If you need characters, businessman and former Medal of Honor recipient Christian Mattingly runs and wins the 1990 Michigan Gubernatorial. (Irish Catholic, American Dream, Cosnervative Republican, outspoken, working class background, degrees in Economics, Business, and Political Science)

This is all based on Americana.

I thought In explained already to Catchon, but all those you can't google, are just a product of our imagination.

OK. I wasn't sure how many characters were fictional and how many were not.

Westman kind of lost what little respect I had for him when he started doing a transexual.

Update soon?

It seems that the Constitution ticket is getting really revved up with Buckley and Crane taking what would've been Reagan's speeches.

I personally find it ironic, almost hilariously, that Reagan ends up with the description of a "Crazed New Deal Liberal".

Yeah that was the idea.  That pretty much every Reaganism about liberalism that exists IRL would describe him ITTL.
I think I'll have an update up later tonight if everything goes perfectly.

Yeah, I noticed Robert Taft Jr. using a Reaganism a while back.

Hoping for a good result on election day!

By the way, you seem to be mostly concentrating on this, but is there hope for these?

A Rendevous with Destiny; The Election of Barry Goldwater
The End of Freedom; The Ultimate Cost of the Great Depression
1920, the Year of the Tiger
President Mark Warner in 2008; A True American Love Story

Yeah, "The End of Freedom" got really wacked out with the whole sci-fi thing and a city disappearing. I always wondered where you were going with that.

CRANE!!!!!

Well, this certainly was an interesting election. I was hoping the Classic Liberals would pick up Montana or something.

Nah, the fallout from the scandal proved to be too much.  They did come very close to picking up Montana and New Hampshire but alas they failed.
More juicy details to come (including Congressional results!)

I'm surprised that the Republican ended up winnign the popular vote.

Since this is labeled "Westman Timeline", will Westman one day win the Presidency or something close to it?

I hope that Westman at least wins re-election, so he can run again in the future. Although I son't know of any major party that would be foolish enought to nominate him. If he's re-elected, he might be a good prospect for the Classic Liberal nomination in 1984.

It looks like the Democrats are going to be taken over by the Mike Gravel/Jerry Brown/Gary Hart wing of the party. Mostly Libertarian, but supportive of large social programs.

Nice update, though the third and final part, above my post is a tad confusing. I'm hoping Westman can get elected to something else in the future. An interview from earlier in the timeline has him reffering to himself as "the politician I am today" in later life. I'm guessing that signifies that he's going to hold some sort of office later in the future.

By the way, Mechaman, are you Catholic (at least to some degree)? You've probably answered this question. In your timelines, I've noticed references to Catholicism or Catholic politicians:
End of Freedom: Tammany Hall incidents and the jailing of Joe Kennedy
Goldwater: Focus on Catholic Conservative William Miller, and on William F Buckley
Westman: Westmans are (to some degree) "Catholic", as is Al Smith
Year o' Tiger: Al Smith, the Tammany Hall candidate and the 1920 Democratic nominee is Catholic

So will the Mike Gravel Democrats take over the Democrats, or will it evolve into a "purer" form of Libertarianism?

You had to leave us hanging there didn't you? Interesting butterfly with Mary Jo Kopechne. I'm guessing this or something else inspires Westman to either run for re-election ar get back into politics at a later date.

I'm kind of confused here, but my guess is:
You either are using a 1980's version of Han, who is here on this forum, or...
Han is really like forty in real life.
I'm not sure, but I'm hoping the first one.

I also like how Westman is a Progressive Rock fan, but he can't get off insulting Led Zeppelin like that. It's just not right. I mean, next thing he'll be insluting the Doors, Blue Oyster Cult, Jefferson Airplane, and God knows what else.

Also, I have a YES album in my signature.
