It's a documentary premiering on HBO right now that was received with shock and praise at the Sundance Film Festival this year about the natural gas industry.  Since starting it, I feel like I've leaped left in my politics.  Has anyone else been watching this?  It's absolutely incredible.  I've never been so affected by a documentary before.  It's so, so, so sick.

So, discuss your environmental thoughts and concerns about environmental regulation and the conflicts of interest within our government regarding the energy industry, natural gas and oil in particular.

The 'natural gas' lobbyist industry, like that of big government authoritarian T. Boone Pickens, is a sick farce.

I watched a documentary about Monsanto... that significantly darkened my view of humanity.

Apparently, Pennsylvania homeland security is keeping track of people actively opposing fracking.

...   Since starting it, I feel like I've leaped left in my politics.

Can you elaborate on that 'leap'?  I'm just curious about what you mean.

Oh, just that I definitely support more stringent environmental regulations and major checks on the energy industry.  I'm a lot more skeptical of industry in general and more on the side of government actively protecting the public from crap like this.

Can't be any worse than the coal companies that practice mountaintop removal.

It definitely is.  It affects people and animals even more than the physical environment itself.  People's water is so contaminated they can light it on fire.  They get chronic migraines because of the chemicals they ingest and inhale.  And no one is doing anything about it.
