General DeathSquads finally told the truth about the clowns who make up this regime. Still an HP though.

He probably should have been sacked for doing what he did... but that doesn't mean some of the things he said weren't true.

The problem is that while McChrystal had problems with the non-military people he worked with (except, surprisingly, for Hillary).. I think he worked well with the military people.

As president, I think it's more important for Obama to appoint non-military diplomats in a war zone that work well with military people.. and not the other way around.

He is a hero and it's not his fault if Obama wants to fight a war based on a Rolling Stone magazine. However, if you're in the military you talk to no one other than talk radio and Fox News. That should be a given.

I'm a political junky, not a military junky, I can only say he has poor judgment regarding PR, I have no clue if he was better or worse than the average bear at managing the incredibly complex military operations there.

Forget the military, if any of us babbled on the record for days bad-mouthing our bosses, we'd be fired.  "I'm from the Rolling Stone" should result in immediate disqualification from access to any inside access in our military...  if I made sandwiches at Subway, and went to the NYT to complain, on the record, about my boss, I shouldn't expect to keep my job unless some sort of whistleblowing were involved.

Civilian control of our military is a cornerstone of our Republic.  The worst statements didn't come from McChrystal himself, but senior staff who had a notepad or voice recorder in front of their face when they said those things.  Any officer who badmouths he civilian leadership on the record to a sensationalist magazine is probably not fit enough to be an officer.  I mean, there's just a judgment call there.  We all do stupid things, I almost got run over by a taxi today while reading TPMDC on my phone, but knowingly saying the things that that RollingStone article quoted, on the record...it just shows no judgment.

I would rather have people in charge of military operations with basic street smarts, unless we are talking about idiot savants or something regarding military strategy haha.

McChrystal's firing gives Obama the chance to shift the focus in Afghanistan.  General Petraeus, who is widely respected nationwide for his intelligent handling of the Iraq War, is risking his entire reputation on being able to turn around a horrible, depressing situation in Afghanistan.  You know what?  He's not doing it because he thinks it's good for him, he's doing it because he's an f'n soldier, and President Obama is the Commander, and President Obama asked him to.

McChrystal and his staff could learn something from Patraeus, the chain of command isn't tomfoolery to be mocked, but rather an oath of service.
