On that note, can someone point out to me how Goldwater's famous "Extremism in the Defence of Liberty" is any less quasi-fascistoid or 'extremist' than Kennedy's even more famous but far, far more inane "Ask not what your country can do for you..."

Beautiful painting. Which one is that?

Caspar Friedrich's Chalk Cliffs of Rugen

I have to say I don't find Croatia or sunny beaches ala-tourist propaganda particularly all that interesting. Croats, maybe... but Croatia... no, not really.

Even by political poster standards that smile is incredibly cheesy and insincere.

A good metaphor for many people on this forum.

I wonder how many people around can get Alfred Bester reference?

I'm surprised you can tbh. I think only you (and I wonder how you have heard of Bester myself - I can't imagine he is well known in Poland. Though apparently so is Jonathan Carroll, another favourite writer of mine) and Xahar here have read any of his books. And Xahar has only because I harassed him to.

I wonder what signifiers are at use here? Is it graffiti or by design?

Lol Nick Clegg. I support a policy of war on Rupert Murdoch though.

Any particular reason it's a French poster?

No.

I like San Francisco (or perhaps the idea of SF) so I'm glad it won something.
