An example of how you can use maps to make a political point. Or perhaps an example of the inherent bias that goes into map-making. The point, fwiw, is not a clever one*, but the use of distortions inherent to maps is.

I quite like Friedrich, for various reasons. One is the odd way in which his work was ultimately anti realist, but in a way that seems oddly contemporary for us rather than the various non-realist approaches common to his time.

In many ways his work was quite typical, of course (look at the way the trees were done), but that's not really the point.
