Well, I finally did it!  I'm officially disaffiliated with the dirty Republican Party.  I am officially independent, woohoo! Smiley

Good job. I'm glad you figured out you don't belong in the GOP anymore. What's the poitn of staying in a party where you don't fit in?

You're out?  Did you come out to your parents yet?

Hah, that's what I wondered at first, too. Tongue

I'm curious, Fezzy, can independents participate in primaries in NJ? If not, then it seems strange. At least as a member of a major party you get to participate in primaries.

Haha, yeah I didn't even think of the connotations of being "out". Tongue

Yeah, I can choose when I go to vote which to participate in.  Even if I couldn't, I wouldn't want to be in a party.  I don't want my name to be attached to either party.

Good for you. Cheesy

Now get to work on convincing the rest of the Republocrats and Dempublicans around here to disassociate themselves from those evil establishment parties.

If you put your words together, they form "Democrats" [good] and "Republpublicans" [bad]

Should be something like Demicans, really, for parallel structure.  That or Repubicrats and Demolicans

'Dempublicans' makes the point clearer. Parallel structure is not a big deal.

Sad to see you go.  Although I'm not surprised.  And it's people like you who we need to be keeping in the party, not driving out.

My first thought was  "out of what?" then it was "is he gay"

Actually... quitting the Republican party didn't come to mind.. though in some families such sacrilege would easily rank up there with being a limp-wrist.

But congratulations, I guess Smiley  You obviously weren't very happy and I don't know how you really fit at all with the national party.  With the current Republican.. you could easily vote for every Republican on the ballot in November and still be considered "not Republican" by many higher ups in the party.

Oh, and I have to say:  Your'e always welcome to join the Democratic party.  We could make you an honorary member of the DFL.  While your positions aren't mainstream in the Democratic party, you'd be a nice addition to the party.

Yeah, but I get overly fixated on "Demp" -- which seems vaguely negative because it sounds a bit like "dump" but not enough that I'm content to move on.  I spent 2 minutes obsessively playing with the two words in response to reading your post!

That's like moving from Saudi Arabia to North Korea.

This is an exemplar of the state of my wing of the party. It's slowly dying.
