Whether you'd actually do that is not the point. He had a lot of buildup though in the hypothetical. Also consider he was talking to 12-13 year olds.

He didn't do that. I'm just saying he seemed like the type who probably would for people who are a bit older (I'm talking about teenagers and 18-20 year olds here, not the confirmation class age.) Also it was just an all day thing at the church, not some camp.
