Large swing from 2000:

Bush 21
Gore 5
and probably the same guy throwing his vote away to Nader

Yes, this after yesterday's surprise court decision to allocate all 538 electoral votes to Dixville Notch, New Hampshire.

As a reference, in the 2004 primaries, the results were this:

2004
Democratic Primary: (15 voters)

Wesley K. Clark - 8
John F. Kerry - 3
John R. Edwards - 2
Howard B. Dean III - 1
Joseph I. Lieberman - 1

Republican Primary: (11 voters)

George W. Bush - 11

"The General" was popular here.

Not to pin too much on Dixville Notch, but this is not a good sign for Bush...it's giving me a bad feeling of what's to come tomorrow.

A switch of 10 votes obviously doesn't matter; but it is interesting, unless there has been a large change in who lives there (people moving out, new ones moving in); that's quite a large swing percentagewise. Obviously the sample size is so small that it's meaningless.

These numbers are being put into question.

Fox News reported it as being 19-7 Bush, and supposedly from rumors on Monday Night Football, it was also reported as 19-7 Bush.

This sounds more right, since there are only 26 registered voters there.

MSNBC now has corrected it to being 19-7 Bush.

Correction Dixville Notch
Bush:  19
Kerry:    7

The other was Hart's Location.

I hail this as example of the power of the Bush candidacy and utter liberal bias of the media!

That sounds more reasonable.

Still a slight Kerry shift; there will probably be a slight Kerry shift statewide in NH as well, so that makes perfect sense.

What was the result from Hart's Location in 2000?

Hartsville, NH: the other town that votes at 12:00 AM midnight was the place with 15 Bush-15 Kerry-1 Nader.

I don't know their record.

The results in Dixsville Notch in 2000 were Bush 21, Gore 5.

So far a gain of 2 votes for Kerry over 2000.

I just looked it up on the Atlas here: Hart's Location was Bush 17 Gore 13 in 2000. So a 2 vote switch, same as Dixville Notch. Hart's Location seems to be a pretty good national bellwhether.

Hmm...what happened to that Kerry turnout machine we've been hearing about?  No change in total turnout from 2000 in either location! Smiley

I think if we're sitting around typing about Dixville Notch and Hart's Location, we all have gone over the edge.

I went over long ago.

Yeah, we are a bit burned out when we are trying to find a trend in 56 votes, aren't we....

First I've ever heard of a Democrat coming close in Dixville Notch.

       It's only Dixville Notch, but....

J.J. - agreed.  We're all a bit nutty by now.  Still, the results are interesting; a two vote shift in both towns!

Thanks for posting the updates.  They make me feel much better.

Bush and Clinton tied there in 1992, I think.
