For those too lazy to do it themselves, here are the combined results in 2004 for Dixville Notch and Hartsville Location.

2004
Bush 34 (58.6%)
Kerry 22 (37.9%)
Nader 2 (3.4%)

2000
Bush 39 (67.2%)
Gore 18 (31.0%)
Nader 1 (1.7%)

I just looked it up on the Atlas here: Hart's Location was Bush 17 Gore 13 in 2000. So a 2 vote switch, same as Dixville Notch. Hart's Location seems to be a pretty good national bellwhether.

Maybe, but NH is almost a home state advantage for Kerry, so it may not be so bad for Bush.

Hubert Humphrey won there.  No one there much liked Richard Nixon.

The results by town on the Atlas only go back to 1980, but every Republican since then has won Dixville Notch, and Hart's Location went Republican every year except 1992 when it went for Perot. Bush got more votes than Clinton that year, so this is the first time since 1976 (at least, probably even longer) that a Democrat has managed to tie a Republican in either of the two towns.

Ok, now I really am going to bed. This is too much! Smiley

Correction:

Jimmy Carter almost won there.

1976
Gerald Ford 13
Jimmy Carter 11
Eugene McCarthy 1

The one time a Democrat won Dixsville Notch.
1968
Hubert Humphrey 8
Richard Nixon 4

I think I'm starting to lose it now.  Smiley

A 15.3 point swing. Of course a point is less than a voter, but still.....

I'll be analysing the results when the election is over and getting reading for next years UK election

Life? What Is "Life"?
Ah yes... it's a 15 year tariff placed on someone convicted of a serious offense by a Judge.
It can be as high as "Life meaning Life".

Don't want one of those thank you very much

Someone explain to me why these towns have already released their results when most people haven't even voted yet...

Basically these are weird little towns in the middle of nowhere which happen to like a little bit of free publicity every election

So, is this a 'sign' that Nader is going to do twice as well this year as in 2000?

LOL!
