'Don't Taze My Granny!'

This is disgusting. These government parasites are out of control.

It's a good idea to keep a direct line to the nearest hospital ER on speed-dial, as when you call 911 there's always the risk they'll send these violent thugs instead of EMTs.

Who the hell is in charge of redirecting those 911 calls?  This is insane.

"Out of control"?  Come on.  There's no doubt there are a disproportionate amount of douche cops, but it's not like there's a granny-tazing wave overtaking the nation.

Alright, this is ridiculous. What's an 86-year old disabled woman going to do to threaten the safety of 10 police officers?

Why, these courageous heroic policemen were just acting in self-defense when the 86-year-old disabled woman "took a more aggressive posture in her bed".

The only thing the cops should have done when she told them to get the hell out of her apartment was to GET THE HELL OUT OF HER APARTMENT.

The piece of garbage that stepped on her oxygen hose should be charged with attempted murder and thrown in prison.  Every cop in that room should lose their jobs and be charged with assault.

Maybe when a good number of former cops are rotting in jail cells for a good long time, they'll learn that they are enforcers of the law, not kings of the hill.

Edit:  why were there that many cops in the first place?  Usually when somebody calls 911 for a potential medical emergency they send a first responder, maybe one deputy, and an ambulance.

Everybody involved should be disciplined for this.

Oklahoma apparently has very militant militarized police with not enough to do.

I have a lot of personal experience with medical emergencies at home.  Many times my mom needs medical treatment and should be taken to the hospital.. but thoguh she has been 100% delirious, when those EMTs get there she perks right up just enough to tell them she doesn't want treatment and asks them to leave.. and they do, despite our calls for them not to.

Then she goes right back into her delirium.  Then we have to basically wait until we know she's out of it enough not to protest when they come.

But never have 10 cops showed up and tazed her and placed us in handcuffs and then purposely removed her supply of oxygen to the point of passing out.. because they know they wouldn't be cops anymore by the end of the week and they'd have a litany of serious criminal charges laid against them.

I don't know about Minnesota, but when I was an EMT in Massachusetts, we were not allowed to take someone against their will, no matter what anybody else around them said, unless they were unconscious or they had an altered mental status. Surely you have such exceptions there too?

I wish I could say for certain that this sort of thing is isolated to Oklahoma, but unfortunately chances are there are cases like this all across the country. And police departments these days are militarized and federalized and will defend their cops no matter what grave crimes they commit- and there's little we the people can do about it.

My bet is that Oklahoma's backwater version of authoritarianism was a contributing factor. I've heard it's not a particularly good state.

But of course, there are cases like this all over the country, because as with any other profession, there are absolute idiots in the emergency response line. I suspect it's more gravitated towards larger states, and states without very good government. This doesn't happen as much in the area of the country I live in - or at least, I haven't heard much of it happening.

Only when he got fired. This is the same cop who threatened to kill Palin's father and the media rushed to make her look bad over it.

Didn't she get in trouble for firing him though because it came out that the 11yo actually asked for the guy to taze him and it was found that the firing was purely politically motivated (as in, one of friends was his boss and her friend didn't particularly like this officer and used this as a phony excuse ot have him fired)Huh

Or was that a different situation?

Oh, please.. spare me the "oooh poor sweet, innocent Sarah Palin!  Evwybuddy is out to get her and it's not fair!!!"

Man you conservatives have playing victim down to a fine art.  Everything that ever happens to you people is never your doing.. no no no.. it's some liberal behind it.

I'm sure there are conservatives out there that claim that Mark Foley's diddling with teenaged boys was also some liberal conspiracy... us democRATS clearly forced him to do it.

It's either that or... man, he might as well be a liberal demoCRAT party socialist for liking little boys.

The day a Republican ever blames himself for his own ineptitudes will be the day hell thaws out after a thousand year long ice age.

If an 11 year old asked you to tazer him would you have done that? If so that is poor judgment. Do you really believe that firing a cop who threatened to kill your father is politically motivated? I mean what would you have done laughed it off?

No, I don't believe that firing a cop that threatened to kill my dad is politically motivated.  Is there definitive proof that this actually happened, or is it a "he said, she said" type of thing?

Obviously the guy tazing the 11 year old boy was very stupid.  But I'd have a few questions:

1.  Was he in uniform when he did it?
2.  Was it a random stranger (I believe it was his nephew or something)

If he did something like that... he should be punished.  But lose his job over it?  Probably not.

Then again, I am torn over whether McChrystal should have been fired for what he said too... sometimes I'm way too strict and sometimes I'm way too lenient on stuff that I should maybe be more consistent on.
