See McGovern's opposition to EFCA, sending his kids to expensive non-black schools while supporting busing; not standing by Eagelton; publicly opposing the Nixon pardon while privately supporting it; these are just some examples.

Bush isn't perfect, but he's better than McGovern.

So McGovern stood up for the rights of the workers over the 'rights' of the unions. How terrible.

McGovern had the right to send his kids to whatever school he felt was best for them. Many politicians, including Obama, send their kids to private schools, despite talking big about how much they support the public schools.

McGovern had to drop Eagleton from the ticket because the majority of Americans then were ignorant and repressed when it came to dealing with depression and other psychological issues. It was his campaign and party that compelled him to flip-flop after he had supported Eagleton.

And Nixon should not have been pardoned.

In my worst candidates in modern history since 1952 thread, McGovern got quite a bit of votes if I remember correctly. I would vote for him if his ideas hadn't become the socialist platform of the Democratic Party today.

For all those mo***s who are foolish enough to believe Bush would win.

Bush would lose for two key reasons:

1. He's a Republican nominee in 2008
2. His name is Bush

What McGovern was doing in 1972 would be totally irrevelant in 2008

I know you don't live in this country but take it from someone who does. Bush Jr. would have completely waxed McGovern in 2008.

This about Bush Sr., not Bush Jr. Bush Jr. was term-limited out in 2008, not that he would have won anyway.

No kidding I was making a point. The point being that having your last name be Bush may not have gone over well in 2008, but if you ran against McGovern you'd be just fine.
