King's father was going to vote for Nixon until JFK visited MLK in jail during the campaign. He apparently changed his mind and supported Kennedy afterwards. I don't know if MLK cared that much for party labels.

Whoops, according to Wikipedia it was actually Bobby who " telephoned the judge and helped secure King's release". Of course, this could all be fabrication. It's Wikipedia. Grin
