Yes.

At least the only two states that still have a lifetime ban are Kentucky and Virginia. For some reason most people seem to think it's nationwide.

Absolutely. Your debt to society should end once you leave the prison gate.

to answer 'no', even for the presently incarcerated, is inimical to democratic rule of law.

As long as they aren't in prison, I think they should be allowed to vote. Part of me wants to say no because that would help the GOP but it's only fair that they get a second chance. Maybe have a 3 strike rule or something.

Various states have various restrictions on the franchise of convicted felons, but only Kentucky & Virginia permanently deprive convicted felons of the right to vote regardless of their subsequent status.

Once they're out of prison and off parole, absolutely.  Not before.

I can see the argument for banning incarcerated felons from voting in local elections - at least in the locality they currently reside in...

Yes, while in prison and after.

I actually just talked about this in a Human Rights class this week as an example of America's human rights abuses.

Option 2 seems like the absolutely "moderate hero" position. I don't see any real reason to ever deny the vote....felon or not, in prison or not.

So, yes, felons should always be allowed to vote.

You only chose the non-moderate hero position to try and prove that you are not a moderate hero. We're not buying it. Nice try, pal.

Yes... at least those who have committed non-violent crimes should always maintain their voting rights.

It seems a bit dubious to take away people's voting rights for 'violent crime' when they're voting for the most violent, murderous institution on the planet - the US government.
