How come 1948 isn't an option in this poll? If there is one for that year (not sure if there is since I don't know if they broadcast the results on TV yet or not), I'd love to see it. Imagine all the reporters thinking Dewey will win only to see Truman pull off a stunning upset.

If you got to the Turning points with Tom Brokaw web site, there is about 20 minutes of footage from the next day.

I wasn't sure how much TV was around in 1948. Everything I've read about that election night talked about radio. But I'd buy those CD's.

I have a VHS of 1994.  It is mostly CNN (and commercials).  For the early part of the evening, it seemed like CNN was so to catch on to the magnitude of the GOP victory that was developing.

TV broadcasts (experimental versions, anyway) go back to the '20s.  On Youtube you can find some video of the election, but I think it's all from the next day.  And, it's basically some radio announcers sitting around talking into microphones. Wink

I haven't seen the actual election but I saw the post election analysis.  It had one newsperson (a Republican by the sounds of it) on borderline tears because somehow Dewey lost and it just wasn't fair that he lost the election, after being so close two times.....JUST NOT FAIR AT ALL!!!!!!!

I voted for 2000. It was the first election I followed, the first election night coverage I watched, and it was the thing that got me interested in politics.

But why the hell is there only one option for this poll ?

I'd probably buy most of them.

I was curious to see which one you'd want more.
