Given that bin Laden is a religious fanatic who supports the execution of Jews and Homosexuals I think if he were to carry a state or two they'd be in the south. Certainly not California.

Southern people (at least the religious ones, which there are a lot of) like Jews, though. That's why they are more staunchly supportive of Israel than other areas of the U.S.

That's because they think the Jews having control of the disputed areas will hasten the coming of the Judgement day. That's one of the puzzle pieces that they need. But this is more suited for the Religion Board.

I just wanted to make a point that bin Laden is just as massively unpopular in the South as he is in the rest of the country. No way bin Laden wins anywhere in the South.

Actually, most people who I know are not like that. Most of the Southern Sterotypes are created by people who base the south off of drunken idiots. The south is not like that. Sure the south was racist, but it is not anymore.
How would you like it if someone insulted where you live?

I meant no offense to southerers. That was more of lighthearted response to a very silly question.

Maybe the author means that someone else named bin Laden (NOT the terrorist) who has U.S. citizenship ran for President as an Independent.

You gave me an idea: in a alternative history, the bin Laden family moved to California in the 1940s. Osama is now a Senator there, and is is running for President as an independent (he lost his bid for the Democratic nomination in 2004, so he changed his afilation to independent, much like Joe Lieberman).

I believed that you have confused the American South (one of the most most culturally rich and unique areas in the entire world) with western Texas, because no one in the South says "Yeee-haw"...
