...the way we are currently waging war is not conducive to preventing new enemy recruits.

Well, if we're worried about new enemy recruits, then we certainly aren't killing the enemy fast enough.

We definitely aren't, but all the liberals of the world would create too much outcry if we turned the entire Middle-East into a crater with nukes.

rwn, take a look at that Michael Duff piece I posted on one of jmfcst's other threads about Kerry and his pointing finger.  It's off-topic on that thread, but you might enjoy reading it.

All you angry Americans are missing the fact that though the war on terrorism is an obvious national interest to the US, is isn't really to Spain...

OK, Gustaf, you almost made me choke to death with that one.  All I can say is: if Spain doesn't think the war on terror is in THEIR national interest, then I would LOVE to read the Spanish interpretation of bin Ladin's letter in which he stated his intention to restore Andalusia under Muslim control.

Wake up!

OK, I can see how my post could be misinterpreted, it was badly phrased. Spain has, to my knowledge, had NO problems with MUSLIM terrorism until now. That was my point. And I don't think Al-Qaeda is gonna take back Andalusia...when Spain reclaims California, maybe, but not before that.

Yes, we would.

Yes, but Andalusia IS explicitly on Al-Qaeda's hit list because their goal is to win back the land Muslim's once controlled.

They're weirdos, but not that kind of weirdos. The 9/11 attack was sufficiently competent and smart for me to believe that some sort of second coming on the Iberian peninsula is very unlikely to occur. I think Al-Qaeda is more of a serious threat than to be occupied with such odd-ball issues. And, once again, that issue hasn't bothered Spain since, lol, I dunno, mediaeval times?

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits, infidel!

I had a brief conversation with Edgar today.  He's still glum about Zapatero, and is convinced our Head of State will be persona non grata over there now.  I hope he's wrong.

The president of the US will never be persona non grata anywhere.

Exactly.  Zapatero is posturing.  Edgar just misses Aznar.  I must admit, I liked that porn-star moustache.  Not as cool as Fox's though.

Yes it is.  And I'm surprised the Al-Qaeda conspiracy theorists haven't yet brought up that connection.  Thoughtful of you to stir that pot.  Makes me wish I'd thought of it earlier.
