Well, my prediction was off in two states...WI and MN which I both narrowly called Bush. I had OH and HI as toss-ups, but I gave Kerry HI in writing and gave Bush a slight advantage in OH.

So I had 2 wrongs, or 3 if you count the OH/HI toss-ups as half-wrongs...I beat or tied The Vorlon! I feel so honored with my superior ability to determine what was pretty much just random chance. Wink

Although it hasn't officially been decided yet, Iowa.  I thought it would go for Kerry.

I just got Ohio wrong in my personal prediction.

Pollbooth got all of the states it called correct, but it left Wisconsin and Ohio as toss-ups.  Bush had a minuscule lead in both toss-up states, so I guess the methodology got Ohio right but Wisconsin wrong.

WI, NJ, NH and NM (if two don't switch in the end).

I think we can, for now, treat NM and IA as probable Bush wins. Are we waiting for absentee ballots or something?

I missed Florida, Ohio, Iowa, New Mexico & Nevada.  If I'd made my prediction a day earlier, I probably would've missed Ohio, Wisconsin & maybe New Mexico.  I really thought Kerry would win Ohio, but struggle in the upper midwest.  Then for my final pick, I went with my heart instead of my head.

I missed WI, NM, and ME CD2, but I made that prediction in August. My previous prediction, made Mar 3, missed only WI and OR. In both predictions, I relied more on other races in that state, news, ballot issues and factors other than polls. I'm pleased that it did about as well as poll-driven predictions. I'm also pleased that I could make reasonably good predictions well in advance of the fall campaign, by using non-poll data.

Oregon, Maine 2, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania. A horrible prediction job. I suck.

My dumb little math thingy only got Wisconsin wrong. But, silly me, I didn't feel like predicting a Bush win that day, so I switched the three closest states to Kerry - OH, IA, and NM. That list sounds familiar, right?

I got Ohio and ME-2 wrong

Shock Map:

No Shocks. 100% Correct

Hunch Map (didn't enter this... no need for embarresment. Or so I thought)

I got Wisconsin wrong
---
This assumes Bush wins in IA and NM

I got OH and MN wrong.

I don't know why I didn't stick to my WI prediction rule ("As Beef goes, goes Wisconsin"), but obviously I got WI right.

I was "off" on a few things...

I had the popular vote going 50-49 Bush, but I had Bush losing Ohio.

I missed WI, NH, and ME-2.  Each was won by Kerry by a hair, so I feel pretty good.  If Nader had not been a total non-factor, Bush would have picked up those easily.

My PV prediction was Bush 50.1/Kerry 48.6, so I underestimated Bush's margin by less than a percent.  Once again, I way overestimated the third party vote.
