That'sa very sad irony considering he once survived a plane crash that killed his first wife.

Well, regardless of all political differences we may had with him as well as some controversies, we can't deny he was one of the most important Senators in U.S. history.

RIP (still hoping I may be wrong).

I suppose that, when you think about it, planes are technically a series of tubes.

Not that a plane is a big truck.

Do I get the money back that he funneled to Alaska?

No?

Screw him. The guy was a dick.

(And I don't use the word lightly. If freaking Bono died in a plane crash, I'd post something mawkish too).

I have a personal rule to abstain with some kind of comments and calling names for at least few days after a certain person dies. Whether it was Ted Kennedy, Ted Stevens, Robert Byrd, Jesse Helms, Jerry Falwell etc. etc.

If you can't hold on for a moment, you're just lacking a class and personal culture.

Well, wormyguy, you're here not so long but you already lost my respect. Thus, welcome to my, until now, empty ignore list.

Begich's father died in a plane crash too, right?

Yes, with Hale Boggs. Remains of the plane were never located and they were postmousthly found "dead" by Congressional resolution.

He should have stuck to taking a big truck.

Fixed.

Kalwejt I find your hysterical, crying-and-looking-up-at-the-sky-saying-why-god-why-behavior when tragedies happen to be offensive. You acted this way when President Kaczynski died earlier this year as well.

Cubby, 96 people died in this plane crash and I used to know 4 of them personally. And as I remember very well, I made it clear: "RIP for ALL victims".

And you're wrong, regarding Kaczyński I had highly negative opinion before and never changed it. Just I believe that it's pretty good custom to keep things like "good riddance" or "he was a dick" out of saying at least at the day of man death.

And my avatar change? I feel some kind of nostalgy, as Stevens always entertained me. Beside, as a perso highly interested in U.S. political history, the Senate in particular, it's little sad always to see a part of his history to go.

And just ftr: Back in 2008 I was really happy for another D pickup.
