Oh never was independent as far as I know, only wanted to be different. Tongue (has been a big place of protestantism, and a big resisting one, thus the siege).

Plus hey, there is the butter of Surgères, the Moules (mussels) de Bouchot, and well, a part of my family. Tongue

Ah, so that's why you can't stop defending Aunis against each attempt to oust it ! Wink

Anyways it was a part of France in theory, but I've heard it was in fact pretty independent from the crown before the siege.

No, I haven't said it explicitly, but it's due to the "events" in 2009 World Leaders Survivor Wink
