Which opposing party nominee would the preceding poster run best against?

I had this idea some time ago, so I thought I would start this thread now. Which RL presidential nominee would the preceding poster run best against? For non-Americans and third-partiers, go by the party they're closest to. For Independents, do both parties. Feel free to post maps, too.

The best election result I can think of for you would be against Carter in 1980, where you do better than Reagan because you're perceived as being more moderate.

Goldwater seems like the obvious choice.

I wouldn't touch the Carnival cruise ships with a 10 foot pole. Too many things have gone wrong in the last ~6 months for me to even consider it anymore.

McGovern in '72 probably. I think Mondale might've done better against him.

As an Independent, he'd probably do best in an election against Santorum and Grayson, though he wouldn't win.

I meant RL nominees, so Nancy Pelosi doesn't count.
