In 2012, Barack Obama is narrowly defeated by a Romney/Thune ticket. In 2016, after bringing unemployment below 5%, Romney is reelected with over 350 EV's. However, the economy falls back, and America enters a war against Iran in late 2017.

The Democrats nominate West Virginia Governor Carte Goodwin, while the Republicans nominate for Louisana Governor Bobby Jindal. Unemployment is at 6.7%, and Romney's approval rating is at 43%.

I wonder how the 2020 EV map looks.

Also, why did we go into Iran.  If it was because of WMD's, why wait until 2017?  They have nuclear capability right now.

Because I needed to think of something that could cause Romney's approval to drop so it wouldn't be a dead giveaway who would win. War came to mind, and Iran is the only country I can think of right now who we could possibly get a war with.

Does the public support war in Iran?

Only 40% do. 50% do not, and 10% remain undecided.

Pretty much a re-do of 2008. Not even a Latino woman can save the GOP.

There's always North Korea, though that's more likely to happen in 7 months then 7 years.

How is the war in Iran going specifically? Are we winning, or is there a very powerful Islamist insurgency?
