DC
Kerry (D) - 183,876 90%
Bush (R) - 19,007 9%
Nader (I) - 1,138 1%
Is there a city of equal size to these two cities that votes Republican in equal proportion to them as well?

There is nothing wrong with "these people." They merely disagree with you. If you keep up calling them names, you're not going to win any new voters and we will have a Republican in the Whitehouse in 2008 and a 60-40 Senate.

Mormonism is a mental disorder? See, this is why you guys are not winning elections. You proclaim religious freedom for all, as long as it is only a concept and no one takes you up on that offer. I get the feeling that Democrats feel democracy is good only if hundreds of thousands of born-again Christians don't turn up to vote.
You can't have it both ways. Keep this attitude up and you will never win an election for the rest of your lives.

Well actually I would only feel REALLY good if they were fed to lions..
But what I meant was that religious belief is a mental disorder.. Mormonism is just a particularly comical form of that disorder.

What do you mean hypocrites? I genuinely fear and despise the religious. How is that hypocritical?
And as for hurting ourselves, I think not. The only way to deal with a mortal threat is to face it head on, not to compromise with it:

I couldn't agree more. I am one of "those people"
I have no religious convictions. I am not rich. I strongly support gay rights and stem-cell research. But I have had enough of the general narrow-mindedness and intolerance of the Democrat party in which I was raised and to which I belonged for the first 36 years of my life. I became a registered GOP voter on about January 2 of this year, and proudly supported Bush (to the screaming dismay of most of my friends and family). After the election I went back to being non-partisan by changing my registration status.
But you can be certain that, in 2006, if the dems start with the "if you disagree with me you must either be stupid or evil" vitriol tjem I'll again campaign for the GOP and again give the GOP money and again vote for them.
Enough is enough. The dems will stop the hate or they will again lose my support, along with the support of millions of other well-educated, generally liberal minded American voters.

no man, I'm looking away from it. and the party of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Olympia Snow seems hardly to fit that description.
On the other hand, the garbage you were pushing all summer, before you had your 'epiphany' certainly described that party. But then, you left it and apparently took the rancor with you.
I rest my case.

Arnold Swartzenegger and particularly Olympia Snowe are very atypical of the modern GOP! There are only a half dozen national Republicans that are outside of the religious cabal, and they're mostly relicts of the old party before it was ruined - back when I was perfectly happy as a Republican. This new thing is nothing but the political arm of a religious movement.

No, it is only made up of born agains and similar intolerants, with a very small veneer of plutocrats of undetermined origin making use of them (a dangerous game).
As for 'letting go'.. what is the point of letting go of the facts? Its not going to help win elections to shut our eyes to the religious nature of our rulers. Besides, as you well know I've been in flight mode, not fight mode, about the USA for years now. A lost cause, imo.

Huh? What?
Back on topic:
No, fb, there is no major city this Republican. There are a few exurban areas that are almost that Republican - especially in Texas and Utah - , as well as quite a number of very thinly populated rural areas all over the West.

the largest urban area that votes even close to that for the Republicans is the Provo/Orem area in Utah, that has about 300k people.

not looking at the data at the moment, but try orange county/anaheim. I'd guess that at #1. And maybe something like Tarrant County/Ft. Worth as #2. Seems like I read that somewhere... CNN maybe?
