pbrower, you made a mistake in the map, Huckabee is not @ 50% - you have to use "4" in the map.

Tpyo corrected.

"Re: Kepler discovers 1200 possible new exoplanets"

Topic stunned me for a second, thought we'd uncovered some new (and bafflingly advanced) work of Iohannes Kepler.

Obama is very likely to lose re-election.  I think the Liberal media is being really quiet about this but if a GOP candidate under 62 is nominated, then they will have a fresh/young voice that builds momentum to defeat Obama.  Its a very grassroots/tea party "power to the people" theme that will really flip govt again.

First, media is plural. Using the word as a singular noun is semi-literate.

Second, the Tea party has peaked. It managed to get some real turkeys elected in 2010, and those will be easy for the President to run against if he needs to run a campaign of the Truman '48 style to get re-elected. Approval ratings for some of the politicians defeated in 2010 are now at points at which they would be certain of winning if there were to be an election today. That is more relevant to 2012 than was the 2010 election.

The Tea Party politicians are as venal and corrupt as any clique elected nationwide. They are about as bad as urban-machine types. A Florida congressman is about to be indicted, the Governor of Florida  is getting very testy about business dealings before he was elected Governor, and elected Republican governors of Ohio and Maine have shown themselves to be racists.  Political waves can be reversed, especially when those waves sweep in politicians best described as marginal - or worse.

Third, the Tea Party types have gone to the failed Culture Wars that the GOP lost in 2006 and 2008 -- and will lose again in 2012. The Culture Wars succeeded in proportion to the strength of the Religious Right. In 2010 the Corporate Right threw gigantic amounts of money at them. In 2012 such could be futile as the Tea Party types lose 'moderate' districts.

There are several ways in which to fail. One of the most insidious is to do something that works for a while and then plays out, learn nothing, come back with a clever ad campaign, and then do again what brought failure.

Election 2010 was a Pyrrhic victory for the GOP.

Apparently the village idiot is on a roll, and apparently this forum existed in 1999.

Removed a couple of posts. Don't like that sort of thing here.

It are the fascist Atlas moderators!

I prefer to see myself as a Stalinist of some kind, actually.

Oh boy, what you know about been a stalinist or living in a stalinist country???
Oh sorry, you maybe leared about it in a english university! Lol

Ah, but then I'm not actually a Stalinist; that's a joke. Basically moderators have dictatorial powers over all posts in their forum, and I'm more open/amused about the implications of that than other mods.

Anyway...

Yes, but I read this forum for 12 years now and you really don't need to show your "distatorial powers" in removing my posts even when you dissagree with me on UE beeing a communist organization.

I'm not surprised by the complete lack of comprehension of the word "manditory."

After looking through the Strawman thread guess what I found...........

Well, yes, we're in a recession. What do people expect? Record surpluses?
A balanced budget and that we all stop sucking Keynes' shriveled dick.

yes, because that is an economic policy that has worked before and did not result in an even worse economic downturn.

Yes, government intervention works SO well Roll Eyes

Maybe I'm giving him too much credit, but I thought that was intentional - he did the same thing (mispelling "typo" IIRC) a week or so ago, which was also posted in the thread.
