Now five out of the last six polls of this race are by Rasmussen. Not counting the R2K poll (lol), it's six out of the last seven.

Apparently Arizona digs embarrassing debate performances and made up stories about beheadings. To each their own I suppose.

Over the last year or so Arizona has revealed itself to be, well, less than intelligent as a state.  I'm not surprised that debacle at the debate had no effect.

Probably due to the ridiculous homogeneity in the source of the polls. Granted, there is no pollster one would rather have the last six out of seven polls of one race be from than Rasmussen, but still.

I'm going to refer people to this poll from now on when people accuse me of being "arrogant" when I call voters stupid.

It's becoming increasingly clear that this country would be much better off if we had lost the Civil War and the Mexican-American War.

Um, would you change your vote if in the first Gubernatorial debate in New York Cuomo makes a stupid gaffe?  Somehow i don't think so.

Democrats have shot themselves in the foot in AZ for a least this cycle--the state has enough ideologically Conservative voters to put Brewer over the top barring a live girl/dead boy incident.

If Cuomo made a comment about headless bodies lying around the state when all of the evidence was to the contrary, I would certainly not be inclined to vote for him.

Not to mention that it's not the only thing she's done.

Aside from the crazy immigration bill she championed, she doesn't seem terribly informed (hence her bad debate performance), she keeps lying about the violence of immigrants when illegal immigration is decreasing, she refuses to answer tough questions from the media, she has connections to the private prison industry that directly benefits from SB1070, and she refuses to advertise on a network that has started to criticize her.

If a Democrat did all of THAT? Then yeah, I doubt I'd vote for them.

This election should make you question the intelligence of Obama more than anything else.  There's no other reason why all this is occurring.

And yet . . . . you would do it in the end.  You'd justify it by saying that it was to prevent those evil Republicans from taking power, or something or other, but you would almost certainly vote Democrat in the end.

Arizonians aren't interested in putting a Liberal Democrat in their governor's office, especially given their immigration problem, no matter how overstated you claim it to be.  If you're going to claim that this is because they're a bunch of racist hate-mongers who want to murder every person with so much as a tan rather than people concerned about potential spillover violence from Mexico, that's your problem, not theirs.

No, not really.  He needs something to scare Hispanics to the polls after all, and RAWR ARIZONA IS RACIST works fine for that purpose.  Significant numbers of people still think that this is going to be apartheid-Arizona edition after all.

Perhaps, I just don't see how Obama could position himself on this issue without pissing off part of the electorate. If his administration was mute on SB1070, who knows how much support they would have lost from Latinos/Progressives. Saying nothing about a controversial issue can be just as damaging as taking a hard stance.

Umm, no. You don't know anything about me so don't pretend you do. As it stands now, I'm not even 100% sure I'll vote Cuomo. It doesn't matter if I do or not anyway.

I see Arizona is apparently still trying to claim the title of "most regressive" state.

You're missing the point.  Obama's actions have made it such that Brewer will be elected regardless of how incompetent she is or looks like because the battle is not Brewer v. Goddard, it is Arizona v. DC.

And don't think this doesn't impact all other races in Arizona.

Besides, how is this getting Hispanics to the polls?  I don't see any evidence of that.

Acknowledging Sam's points, it still amazes me that  one of the worst debate performances in history had zero impact on the candidate, and may have even helped her. It is as if folks (almost all of them) are really hard wired into their political choices.
