And finds a huge improved for the Dem incumbent from their last poll.

Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (D) - 47%
Kristi Noem (R) - 45%

Last poll was a 51-42 lead for Noem.

Interesting, I would think that Boswell, Herseth-Sandlin and certainly Teague would be among the first 40 House Democrats to lose in a wave election.  Teague would be in a standard list of the first 20.   Yet all 3 of them are polling ahead of their opponents.  The Maine reps would  be around #65 and they both look safe. These polls suggest more of a 1982 size wave than a 1994 size wave.

Now this really surprises me, but it's great to see that Herseth-Sandlin still has a fighting chance.

Stephanie is running ads bragging out her vote against Obamacare, as is Altmire, Grumps' congressman in suburban Pittsburgh at al.

Do you not believe that this is smart politics for them?

It seems like her reneging of her political party and her boasting of her supposed conservative anti-Washington credentials have worked. Populism at its finest.

Of course it is smart politics. Obamacare has become pretty toxic. Dems in marginal seats are avoiding it like the plague now. But it helps a bunch if you actually voted against it. Just in time before the election epiphanies are less effective.

Nearly 40 Democrats voted against Obamacare and Sandlin was one of them.

Interestingly, the Dems seem to be far healthier in the area between the West & the Midwest (SD, IA) than they do in the area east of there (MI, OH). MI is not the first place I'd expect to see the Democrats get massacred.

One word: unemployment.  The rust belt needs a miracle and Obama has failed to produce one.

Noem has just had a whole lot of bad press over the last two weeks. That probably explains the drop in her numbers.

I tend to think that any poll with SHS under 48% is bad for her, given the circumstances.

Very true.  Democrats rely on a lot of union support in the rust belt and with unemployment high and the natural social conservative lean of the union crowd I think this is where Democrats will be hit the hardest.

Noem has a driving record problem which is hurting her, I read, including a ticket driving 100 miles per hour, one of over a dozen or something.

That reminds me of when Keith Ellison was asked how many times his license was suspended and replied "I don't, I've lost count."
