Imagine if in 2000 they would not announce any results all night because of Florida being close. Quoting a Russian politician from the last days before the revolution: "what is it, stupidity or treason?"

Sorry.

Apparently, it was a good idea for opposition to unite.
IF Chavez loses, will he try to bribe some opposition parties on his side?

Chunks of the opposition used to be w/ him. Yes, he might try to forge some coalitions, however coalition-formation is not his strong suit. The question for the moment is: will he recognize the loss.

Chavistas may be saying this, but it is playing w/ fire. By now they've taken long enough so that the only results anyone would believe is their loss. Anyway, opposition did seem to be collecting precinct actas and they have info. It seems they got 52% of the vote. The electoral gerrymander is nasty, but it might not be very successful if opposition actually gets most of the vote.

All we have to do is wait. But if it is announced that chavistas got 110 seats there will be riots.

Caracas chronicle via a twit (their own server is down) suggests hung legislature: 82 seats for the opposition, 82 seats for the government, 1 seat for a third party.

We saw that in a few US states. Like Northern New York State. Republicans made a lot of lean Republican seats who almost all went Democrat during the decade.

For the hung parliament rumour, well, it is the year for that, I suppose.

Some electors are protesting in front of the office of the electoral council in Anzoátegui.

Then why don't they do what they did in 2008? Release a first bulletin and exclude disputed results (Like they did with Carabobo and Tachira.) Then have a second bulletin with all the results?

Yeah, they are now saying in 5 more minutes, 8 hours after the election. Mind it: the vote is nearly completely electronic.

Well, that is not what we want to know!

Except that that's exactly the sort of turnout that opposition was considering the best for itself (between 60% and 70%)

Well, real numbers will be more useful.
Oh God, they say the results one region at time.

It's really bad for PSUV. In Amazonas it is behind PPT (a "third force"). It's a chavista stronghold, opposition wasn't counting on anything there. It's 2 PPT 1 PSUV there.
