How would the election turn out if 9/11 had occurred in 2004 instead of 2001?

This, but give NY to Kerry. Bush wins in a landslide due to the surge in patriotism following the attacks.

Bush had approvals in the 90's after the election, and it would probably be high 70's  on election day.

I fail to see your reasoning on Deleware, considering Bush only lost it by 8 points. He lost Rhode Island by 21 points, yet you have him winning that first.

Bush wins in a landslide. I checked gallups presidential job approval center website, and apparently, Johnson was polling around the 60-70% approval rating at a similar point in 1964, and Reagan was polling at 58% approval right before his landslide in '84.

I'd assume that Bush will have at the least, an approval rating of around 60% or higher. I'm going a little lower than most of the estimates above me, mostly because presidential campaigns, by there very nature, can be a drag on a persons character/approval rating. By 9/11/04, Kerry and Bush were in full swing with the character assasination wars (ie, Texas Air Nat'l Guard, Swiftboat Veterans for truth). I'm not saying that a 9/11 attack wouldn't have boosted Bush hugely in the polls, I'm just saying that the campaign would have prevented him from seeing the earth shattering 90% type of ratings he saw in 2001. Plus, Bush may not have been as strong as he was pre-9/11/04 as he was in real life, because 9/11/01 was a big part of why Bush was as strong of a candidate as he was in the real life 2004.

If a terrorist attack would have occured in 2004, though, then people would have forgotten all of Kerry's attacks on Bush if Bush responded to the attacks very well. An effective response would have demonstrated that Kerry's attacks have no value behind them and that Bush is an effective leader who can keep our country safe. Thus, if 9/11 would have occured in 2004, I still see Bush's approval ratings rise to the high 80s-low 90s. If Bush responds effectively, most of his opponents are going to forget their differences with his for the time being and approve of him solely due to his effective response.

I fail to see your reasoning on Delaware, considering Bush only lost it by 8 points. He lost Rhode Island by 21 points, yet you have him winning that first.

I have Kerry winning Rhode Island, Bush manages to bring in Connecticut though.  My mistake on Delaware, I thought it was much more liberal.  Why don't you get a life of your own and stop harassing people who give Delaware to Kerry in a make-believe 2004 election scenario?

Lol, I wasn't harassing you, I was just pointing out something I saw wrong with your map. People do that all the time on here. I actually appreciate it when people do, so I can know what to fix next time.
