Not quite. Votes comes only from congressional district. No at-large votes.

Basically, candidate wins a district: one ev.

Oh, then, it's Obama 242-193. Obama won 28 states, so take 301 and subtract 56 electoral votes from the Senate, plus 3 for DC, and he has 242. McCain won 22 states, so take 237 and subtract the 44 Senate votes, and he has 193.

So, it's 242-193 if CD-only.

Has there ever been an election wherein if electors were allocated in this way, that the election would have had a different winner?
