I don't understand how Libertas can so strongly support someone who is by his definition a neocon.

(No O'Donnell is not anywhere near a neocon but Libertas thinks everyone from Sarah Palin to Barack Obama to Wayne Allen Root is one. Sarah Palin being the most relevant in this case.)

O'Donnell will win Sussex, barely lose Kent and get creamed in New Castle. Coons wins with 54%.

O'Donnell will win two counties. And then later only tie in them.

You know, the NRSC's pullout means a lot more than just that they've given up on the seat. After all they have spent money on unwinnable seats before. For example in 2006 the NRCC spent money backing Jim Kolbe's preferred candidate in AZ-08. After he lost to the nutjob, the seat appeared lost, but they spent money on a few cheap radio ads for the guy who won anyway. Not to take the seat but rather placate conservatives and say "See at least we backed this guy."

After all it's not like Delaware is a large or expensive state. They could've made a symbolic buy or two before quietly withdrawing instead of doing so blatantly. I think it's obvious: They want to send a message. And they want O'Donnell to lose by as much as possible to make that message clearer. The NRSC has no interest in this race being even semi-close. It wouldn't even shock me if some of the Coons people have had some private meetings with GOP operatives now in fact.

They're sending her a symbolic check for $42k.

Delaware may not be large, but it's really expensive for TV buys.  Most of the state is in the very expensive, inefficient Philadelphia TV market.

I think Coons will break 60%. O'Donnell appeals to just over half the GOP primary electorate, and no-one else.

But the lesson she taught the establishment and the elected RINOs, was very much worth the death of RINO Castlethe Delaware Republican Party.

Fixed.

Her real problem is going to be the constant stream of leaks from the Mount Everest sized pile of opposition research that is available. Things like this:

http://www.salon.com/news/politics/war_room/2010/09/15/odonnell_orgy_rooms/index.html

And since they are about sex everyone will pay attention.

actually, most parents share the same concerns when their kids go off to college.  so I live this piece as a positive, even in DE.

They may share their concerns, but they also think that grownups who obsess about these issues and related ones (as Christine does) can be creepy and perhaps not who they're looking for in office. Her terminology here is definitely closer to "creepy" than "concerned parent," to boot.

I wouldn't be surprised if Coons came close to 60%.

I mean, in any other year O' Donnell would be lucky to get 30% of the vote but, then again, she wouldn't have gotten the nomination in any other year.

Chris Coons stood up the public employee unions and cut budgets deeply on the New Castle County council. For example, on April 23 2009, well before politics, Resolute Determination, a blog created to [offer] "a center-right perspective on politics and policy concerning Delaware and the nation", praised Chris Coons, saying:

Thank you Mr. Coons!   This is a step in the right direction.  Either we need to reduce salaries or eliminate positions.  You gave them the choice and they picked layoffs.

This is not just about O'Donnell. Coons is a responsible money manager who will listen to the people and stand up to the unions when it's necessary.

Obsess about these issues?  She was working for a think-tank that was RESPONSIBLE for thinking about "these issues".

I'm sure any rational parent of a college-aged daughter shared O'Donnell's organization's concerns - at the time she made those statements and even today.

with her looks, she aint creepy when talking about sex

She is hot yeah, but voting based solely on looks is the most shallow, despicable thing a person can do, and if you would do that you shouldn't say anything about politics.

The problem is less the merits of what she is saying, than the fact that we have a narrative that she says insane things, and the media can keep digging them up. This is not the narrative that a serious person wants driving the campaign.

PS: She thinks Dinosaur fossils are fake.

but that has nothing to do with the issues she will face in the Senate.

It questions her sanity, and her competence.  Also, it is not a politically appealing position in a sane state like Delaware.

she did NOT say dinosaur fossils are fake.  She simply said carbon dating can be corrupted by volcanoes and that she believes God created the earth in 6 24 hour periods.  Neither of which I agree with, but that has nothing to do with the issues she will face in the Senate.

Why don't you just move to Delaware and marry the slimy politician? You two would probably make a great match.

Carbon dating is one of the most established practices in science. These kinds of comments raise questions about her ability to be objective and whether she will insert religion into government. In fact the answer to these questions is undoubtedly 'no' and 'yes'.

So its ok to lie about how well you performed in your previous election, but not ok to lie about if Nazi's in WW2 were asking you if you were hiding out Jews....

From appearance on Maher's old Politically Incorrect, video is in link below.
