Assuming each individual wins, who do you think has the most potential to run for and win the Presidency in 2016 out of the current flock of Democrats running for Governor whether the incumbent or the opposition?

You can vote for up to 5 people.

My Opinion:

Yes:

John Lynch

Dan Malloy

Andrew Cuomo

Ted Strickland

Mike Beebe

Tom Barrett

Martin O'Malley

John Hickenlooper

Virg Bernero - Doubt he's going to pull it off but if he does and is successful then he's running in 2016 or 2020.

Dan Onorato - I think him pulling off a win and being moderately successful would give him some 2016 hype.

Bill White - Haven't heard him speak but if he beats Perry then I think he's a candidate in 2016. He looks older but he's only 56.

Maybe:

John Kitzhaber - He's been Governor before so if he loses I think its even more embarrassing. He'd need to get rid of that stache. Why he's not polling better right now is beyond me (he's versing an NBA player??)

Deval Patrick -  I don't think he has the best reputation in Massachusetts and America wouldn't go for two black Presidents in a row, unless it was say, Colin Powell.

Alex Sink - She doesn't come off as the most intelligent person but I could be wrong.

Mark Dayton - Would be fairly old but its possible.

Chet Culver

Terry Goddard - Might be too old. I hope he wins though.

Peter Shumlin

Roy Barnes - Was a Governor already, so why not.

Vincent Sheheen

No:

Jerry Brown - Too old & been there before

Pat Quinn - I'm sure he has some skeletons in the closet we haven't heard about yet.

Diane Denish - Just don't see it happening.

Rory Reid

Mike McWherter - His views are outside of the mainstream Democratic Party's views and he's ugly as hell.

Tom Holland/Keith Allred - Sacrificial lamb to the GOP candidate

Mike Meister - See above and his campaign site says "Mike is undergoing a divorce from his wife of 23 years and has three children which live with him at the present time."

Scott Heidepriem

Peter Corroon

Linda Petersen

Roy Barnes - I know nothing about him but his website sucks.

Jari Askins - Recently had a makeover, I can tell!

Neil Abercrombie - Nope.

White, maybe. Cuomo is an obvious possibility.

Amusingly, my gut reaction to Hickenlooper is to say that he has too funny a name to run for President. Yeeah.

Cuomo and Hickenlooper are the only two who I think have a serious chance at the nomination in 2016. Personally, I'd like Hickenlooper and would probably vote for him if the Republican president or Republican candidate isn't very good.

Cuomo is too boooring to ever get anywhere. Being a Democrat named Cuomo is enough to get elected in New York; it's not enough to win the Presidency of the United States.

The 44th President of the United States has the name Barack Obama. It sounds funny and sounds foreign.

Ted Strickland is going to run in 2016 at age 75?

The only ones I could see giving it a shot would be Cuomo, Sink and Hickenlooper. The others either aren't going to win or I just don't think will ever run.

Well, yeah. Hence "amusingly".

None of them are good presidential stock.  Only Nikki Haley and Chris Christie (if he counts as this cycle) among the GOP.

Lynch and that's it, only if he wins.

Hickenlooper may be able to waltz into anything in Colorado, but he is nowhere near ready for anything national and never will be.

I voted for Cuomo (obvious), Lynch, O'Malley, Hickenlooper, and White.

I'd cross off the last one, since Perry is favored to win at this point. Sink will be 68 or so, meaning her window would be real small, and that's why I didn't vote for her. Lynch will also be in his 60s, and doesn't strike me as interested in the job. Hickenlooper I have no reading on, but he will also be in his 60s. O'Malley is young, but people can throw the "taxes" argument at him.

Of the above, the only one I see with a serious shot is Cuomo, with O'Malley taking second place. Cuomo is relatively young, and won't hit 60 before the election. He may be a flop as Governor, but I always assume that the individual is successful until proven otherwise. In that case, Cuomo would be a really strong contender for future elections.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Brown ran, if not 2012 then 2016 (if he's still healthy and everything).
