Discuss with maps.

Nope.
McCain's age was a huge issue in 2008 when he was 72. He will be 76 in 2012, and at this point I think he's mainly concerned with making sure he dies as Senator from Arizona. He would get dominated in the 2012 primaries by younger (or atleast younger-looking, *cough* Romney *cough) candidates like Pawlenty or Palin.

If he somehow won the nomination, then yes. But there's no logical, plausible way he could do that.

No. Not a chance.
It is far more plausible that Obama loses in 2012 and then wins it back in 2016. He would still be under 60 the second time around.

Clearly the solution is to privatize presidential elections.
So, in less than four years, get excited for the 2016 MetLife Financial U Pick The Prez Extravaganza. If you tweet a picture of your completed ballot with the hashtag #ivoted, you could win a trip for two to the inauguration or an iTunes gift card.

He'd never get through the primary.

No. The Republican Party won't be winning the White House as quickly as 2012. I may later post a map, which would be unnecessary, but offering up a 76-year-old John McCain would be even dumber than when Democrats nominated Adlai Stevenson for a 1956 re-match against Dwight Eisenhower.

If he got through the primary there would always be a chance. I can think of a number of Republicans who would have a much better chance than him of course.

Sure, if he'd get the nomination he'd be a shoo-in, like any Republican, but there's really no reason he'd get the nomination.

I'm not sure if I even agree with that.

Agree with Eraserhead. There is no way that the Republicans will try McCain again. The campaign was a disaster the first time.

Only if he was able to engage Obama in a high-profile battle from the Senate and it appeared that he was taking lead on an issue of great importance to Republicans.
