It's hard because there are so few of my state's politicos that I have any affinity for. I don't think of my favorites there would be any Pennsylvanian that would come in... Probably at least the top 25.

Heh, I thought about adding old Weld myself, but haven't studied his governorship enough.

Why not HCL Senior? Granted he wasn't perfect, but...

Ed Rendell
Milton Shapp
Harris Wofford (For telling Casey Sr. to screw off on the abortion thing)
Tom Foglietta
Pat Murphy (yep, he makes it already)

Uhh... yeah, it gets pretty hard after this.  The frodo's and Al's of this board would love some of our legacy DINOs.

Paul Simon
Paul Douglas
Abe Lincoln
the current President
Ev Dirksen (Don't like most of his views, but he was Senate Minority Leader and was crucial in the passage of the Civil Rights Act)
Charles Percy
Jim Thompson
Jim Edgar
Adlai Stevenson
Adlai Stevenson III (son of the previous name on the list, and a Senator)
Abner J. Mikva
Frank Lowden
John Peter Altgeld (both him and previous name were progressive governors, and especially respect Altgeld for stance against Pullman Strike)

It really was tough to try come up with 5 non-horrible politicians from just one state... I can't do it.

Grover Cleveland
Alfred E. Smith

That's genuinely all I could come up with from New York.

By the way, while he did serve as governor of Massachusetts, Calvin Coolidge always considered himself a Vermonter. Wink

Tom Campbell
John Dennis
Ronald Reagan
Rose Bird
William Knowland

I really bent the rules by choosing a California Supreme Court Chief Justice (who admittedly was terrible as a justice), but it was really the only way to actually achieve five. Even then, this really scraped the bottom of the barrel.

I just re-read his Wikipedia article & noticed his role in drafting the Civil Rights Act of 1957. California politicians have been something of a rogue's gallery, but he seems to be a pretty good apple in the bushel.
