Despite some dire predictions, the Survivor Board seems healthy.

And would anybody be interested in any military "gear" survivor games?  Best Fighter.  Best tank.  That kind of thing?

I'm poor on equipments (except if it's about aircraft-carriers or big boats).
I could be better on "warriors".

But... I'm not sure you'd have many forumers interested, given the low turnout on WW2 battles.

Anyway, you can try one, some day.

There should be a sub-board for off topic survivors.

There should be a sub-board for off topic survivors.

You must ask for it in "The Atlas" board, but I doubt it would be taken into consideration before a long time. And it's not good to create boards and boards and boards.

I'm sorry but, here, we really need to focus on politics and elections and history survivors, in order not to have too many of them unfinished or on second page.

BTW, there is also an "Off-topic board" and you may try to create Pokémon contests there, even though I haven't asked the moderator of this board, Alcon, if he would agree on it.
Given the wide variety of topics in this board (to say the least...), I don't see why it wouldn't fit.

Thank you. I apologize for creation of the Pokemon Gym Survivor, I wasn't aware that it had violated the rules at the time. (Nor was I responsible for the locked threads survivor.)

No problem. The rules weren't clear when you created it. But, you see, we've already got many political and historical survivors simultaneously active and they spread on page 2...

And I know you weren't responsible for the locked threads survivor. The forumer responsible for that has already proved a behaviour that doesn't fit the rules of the forum...

Xahar, see, I've merged the 2 stickied topics.

Oh, and I've put an option on a Soviet Politburo survivor, just to be sure...

I've worked a bit on a list of Mexican presidents. The problem is, if you want to have the earliest ones (and the big old ones), you have a very long list, with many, many small ones.
And beginning with Juarez is too short, on the other hand...
Not very simple...
Maybe, one day, somebody will do this one, with a good solution Wink

I've already asked myself (and let a post for a short time on this, but deleted it because it was too early) if putting a limit on the number of active threads would be a good idea.

Well, I think having active survivors on 2 pages is still OK. Of course, if there is more than 2 pages of active survivors, that would be a problem.

What do you think, survivormaniacs ?

I don't think there is a problem with active survivors being on two pages, but I would suggest in the future limiting "mega-survivors," such as the current Latin American History and Hitler's Helper Survivors, to one active at a time. These two combined currently take up nearly half of the first page. I would also suggest putting a reasonable limit on the number of threads in a "mega-survivor"- five sounds like a good number. Doing this would allow more active survivors on the first (and second) pages.

I'm skeptical whether a Survivor is accepted if it goes over 2 pages. But we don't it works or not, we should try it just once. If there is not works then we can still restrict ourselves to one page.

Among the so-called mega-Survivors. There has never been more than 2 simultaneously from this species. They are also usually mega-interesting. I support a restriction on 2 Mega-Survivors.

Well, the problem is settling itself for the moment, as, unfortunately, even some interesting survivors are more or else erratic (Australian PMs, Canadian PMs, South African Presidents) and even one of our brilliant managers has suspended one of his fine survivors (French Fillon cabinet Wink).
And, of course, some less serious forumers have dropped theirs (SewerSocialist especially).

2 pages are OK I think, but 3 wouldn't be.

I have deleted Pokémon survivors and one from Rochambeau already done.

But I've said to Libertas that a survivor on classical composers would be accepted, as many of these were "hired" by princes and politicians or were used politically or were themselves active in politics, in a way (Lully, Rameau, Haendel, Beethoven, Wagner, etc.)

I would also agree on survivors on super-heroes or super-villains, provided this is linked to their political significance, use or references.

So, of course, there can be many ideas.

But I think the current wave of ideas will fade a bit.
And there is also the fact that each of us can't manage more than 3 average survivors or 1 mega-survivor.

It's difficult to say "no" to a good idea, even if there is already 2 mega-survivors. I would prefer that everyone has self-restraint when they see that the board is crowded (but even that is difficult, even for me Wink). That's why I created these options: everybody can see that there survivors in the making...

However, I conclude from these first 2 answers that some limits would be agreed on.
The principle is already something.

A limit can be put on mega-survivors run simultaneously.
A limit can be put on the number of active topics per each forumer.
A limit can be put on the total number of active survivors simultaneously.

I think all this will settle spontaneously, but it's better to ask and to be prepared, just in case...

Your opinions and ideas are still welcome.

Should I divide up my composers survivor into different categories to be more manageable?

Or was the original list idea good?

My concern is including lots of names nobody has heard of and getting no participation.

Maybe the other forumers intesrested in will have different ideas.

But I think you may try to divide it up in great periods or categories:
medieval-Renaissance / baroque / classicism / early romanticism / "national" romantics / late romanticism / early modern ones / "weird" ones (Wink),
something like that, by trying to balance the groups
and, in the first rounds, we will be forced to oust 8 or 10 names.

When it's shorter and with well-known names, you can merge.

It would be better NOT to split your survivor in multiple threads Grin

Apart from Al, I just think of one forumer who may take part in regularly: officepark.
But many others may show their interest Smiley.

It seems as if I have some time to lose... My Godness, I must stop this...

Anyway, guess what ? With only 7 voters, we make 55.5% of this board !
Shame on you !

BBF: 15.3%
Hans: 9.3%
Edu: 7.3%
Hashemite: 6.9%
Kalwejt: 6.4%
Nhoj: 5.7%
Gully: 4.6%

With officepark (2%), Hughento (1.5%), xyz (1.3%), we are above 60% !

And I don't know the numbers for Xahar, Al and Lewis because they post too much everywhere.
I haven't looked the nhumbers of Sewer and Rochambeau, tbh. Libertas is at 1.1%.
Maybe Tmth, NiK, GMantis and Disraeli may have some points, too.

Beware, many old survivors of 2009 are (yet) in this board, notably Hughento's World Leaders Survivor. It might be "worse", actually, with these threads Grin.

May I set a stricter rule, allowing another forumer to take a topic which is inactive for more than one month ?

That's a pity interesting survivors like Israeli PMs, South African presidents, British PMs, etc are dropped...

I would suggest limiting mega survivors to 5 active threads, and only having one active at a time. Another possibility is pinning active survivors so they're always on page one, and so that people who create new survivors know their thread will be on page two until a slot opens up. To make this work, the inactivity window would need to be closer to a week.

Yep, one month and a half and many "new" managers have faded away.
Fortunately, I think I won't have to adopt stricter rules.
