As for the Assistant DA, he's a moron, but as long as he hasn't been using public resources to do any of this, I really don't care.  Although this'll screw up his chances of getting jobs elsewhere.

I find it hard to imagine that you find this to be okay (as in, not an action for which he should be fired) if the person he was targeting for harassment were targeted for being black, or a woman, or whatever. You can't think this doesn't ruin his impartiality as a government prosecutor or reflect horribly on his judgment and ethics, all essential for being a good Assistant AG (or anything else).

If he hasn't broken any laws, I'm not sure there's grounds to fire him.  Is he an assistant DA or AG?  I've heard both now.  If it's AG, that may be a bit different, since he'd be in a more prominent public position.

If he's crossed over into lines of personal harassment, then he should be fired.  But starting a blog about someone isn't grounds for dismissal.

People get fired for a lot less severe stuff on blogs all the time. And poor judgment is a completely legitimate grounds for firing. There is no free speech employment defense for government employees if their speech demonstrates poor judgment (since the firing would not be about the speech itself, but the judgment demonstrated by the speech and the way it was made).
