It's been a rough year for former rising star Martha Coakley. First she had an awful hard time returning those custom draperies she bought for her presumed Washington D.C. office, and now this:

Martha Coakley under fire as 'woman of conviction'

...

And if that’s not bad enough, the film (Conviction), which takes some serious swipes at the incumbent attorney general, hits the Mass. megaplexes Oct. 22 - less than two weeks before Election Day. And Coakley, who thought she was running unopposed, has to face off against sticker-campaign-winning Republican Jim McKenna of Millbury!

Waters, who was in town with veteran actor Sam Rockwell yesterday to promote the flick, spent 18 years trying to free her brother Kenny after he was wrongfully convicted of a 1980 Ayer trailer-park murder.

Convinced of her brother’s innocence, the single mom got her GED, went to college and law school, passed the bar and found the DNA evidence that exonerated Kenny in the basement of a Boston courthouse. Eighteen years after his conviction, Waters was freed from prison.

In the big-screen version of events, Oscar winner Hilary Swank, playing Betty Anne, calls Coakley an “evil bitch” after the then-district attorney ignores the DNA evidence and keeps Kenny (played by Rockwell) in the slammer.

Well, Coakley is an evil bitch, so that seems fair enough.

I'm actually surprised that this didn't come up more during the Campaign in January.

She was, until attorney Jim McKenna launched a write-in campaign for the Republican Primary. He was able to capture the GOP nomination with 22,000+ votes and will appear on the November ballot.

I'll vote for him, then.

When I voted in the primary earlier in the month, I voted Democratic.
When I came to the Attorney General spot I wrote in "Any One But Her".
This will probably be the one and only time I will vote Republican in the general election.
I really dont like her.

Wait . . . she kept another innocent man in prison to make herself look good?

No, same innocent man, I think.

No, same innocent man, I think.

I was thinking of Gerald Amirault.

Coakley losing again would be too good to be true. The only things that could make me happier on election night would be Russ Feingold winning & Barbara Boxer losing.
