Maine is the only state where you could have two serious independent candidates who would both make decent Governors. Although it makes no sense that they haven't combined into a single ticket.

Well, aside from the fact that Maine has no Lt. Governor...

Did they abolish the position recently? I seem to remember Lt. Gov. candidates in 2006. Maybe I'm hallucinating.

I wouldn't put a lot of stock into Critical Insights or whatever.

LePage dropped this beauty today though.

Is LePage kind of a dumb?

So what's wrong with that? If only every governor would tell Obama and the federal regime to go to hell.

I'm of the same opinion as AJC, for once. This is probably a crap poll.

Nope. The next in line after the Governor is the State Senate President (yes, Libby Mitchell).

It's not Idaho, but Maine isn't exactly Obama country either at this point. The most recent poll showed him with 47% approval there, with 43% strongly disapproving. Just winning those voters could be enough in a 3-way race like this.

Plus Ross Perot's best state has long had a bit of an anti-establishment streak.
